Runner up #2 lost 7.5lbs, 6.8% body fat and 7.75". I am so proud of these woman. How did they do it? Eating Zone/Paleo for 21 days, not drinking any alcohol, exercising 6 days a week, not eating any grains, dairy, sugar or white flour. This takes hard work and discipline but is totally worth it. Way to go ladies!! Be proud of your accomplishments.

It's Easter morning and my entire house is asleep..Conor, Chloe, Mark and the 3 J's (Jynxy, Jak-Jak and Joy). Here we go again another holiday based around food. Let's not forget what Easter is all about.

How are YOU going to stay on track  with your food today?

7 Tips to have a successful Easter

  1. Have a plan for the day.
  2. Exercise before your kids wake up or after the easter egg hunt. Here is a 20 min workout everyone can do..set the timer for 20 min. Amrap = as many rounds as possible. 20 min amrap: 10 burpees, 15 sit ups, 20 lunges, 25 air squats.
  3. Eat a light snack before you go to your family's house.
  4. Love dessert? Make a paleo dessert to bring with you so you won't be tempted by the other fattening desserts.
  5. Be strong it is ONLY food. It will be there tomorrow.
  6. Portion control is key! On a scale of 1-10(1=starving, 10=stuffed) eat until a 6/7.
  7. Exercise when you get home. Go for a walk. Move your body!

CALORIES IN JELLY BEANS and PEEPS

Eating even a small amount of sugar creates a desire for more. Check this out:

4 Calories Per Bean. Each Jelly Belly jelly bean is four calories. Twenty-five Jelly Belly jelly beans is 100 calories –NOT WORTH IT!

One serving of Peeps is five chick-shaped pieces, each containing 28 calories. This may not seem like a lot, but almost all of these calories come from sugar (one Peep has 7.2 grams of carbs, 6.8 of which are sugar), meaning they're as empty as it gets.

My 21 Day Winter Detox

Spring 2015 starts on Friday, March 20th.  I am super excited to start this little experiment with myself and my clients. You can try it too and by March 21 you will be cleansed of all the crap you ate in the past month. Give yourself a little kick start and stay “clean” for 21 days. You will be amazed by how much energy, confidence, strength, clarity and focus you will have just a few days in. By the end of 21 days you will be sure to be down 5 lbs on the scale. Bonus.

Here is how it works…

Give yourself 10 points per week

week #1 3/1/15-3/7/15

week#2  3/8/15-3/14/15

week #3 3/15/15-3/21/15

*Maintain 5 workouts per week(could be Walking your Dog, Yoga, Running, CrossFit, Bootcamp, Spinning..just move everyday).

If you eat any of the foods on the “cheat” list deduct a point for the week. Keep track of your points in a notebook, on your phone, whatever works for you and see if you can get 30 points by 3/21/15!

Chicken Thighs Stuffed with Pureed Dates and Wrapped in Bacon

What is warm, sweet, salty, AND mouth watering delicious that only has 3 REAL ingredients? Answer is… Antibiotic, hormone free chicken thighs stuffed with puree dates and wrapped in bacon. Made with ingredients we can feel good about. These chicken thighs are naturally sweet from the dates with a touch of smoky, salty flavor from the bacon. Check out my latest video made by Chloe. This is the easiest recipe ever. Takes no time at all. It is scrumptous served with Caitlin’s sweet potato mashed and a side of vegetable or small salad.

Thank Goodness February is almost over. Personally, this has been the most challenging month for me as far as eating clean and exercise goes. Can anyone relate? Some months are easier than others and that is life. I am not one to complain but here in New England we have 6-8 feet of snow all around. Our lives have gone from going to the gym after work to shoveling snow before work, after work, sitting in 3-4 hours of traffic. The T, a.k.a subway is not running properly because the tracks are covered in snow so there are 2x as many cars on the road. I feel so sorry for the people that commute to Boston. Ick. I can't imagine. A few more weeks and it will be spring…we can do it, we can do it!!

I am now training for a St. Patrick’s Day 5K. It is on March 14th. Since I have had to train mostly on the treadmill I am doing a lot of sprints at an incline of an 8 and running at 7.5-8.0 MPH. SOOOO hard! I try to do 8-10, 1 min intervals like this. The rest of the time flat or 3% incline. Trying to go fast. I am really excited, today, Sunday it is 34 degrees out. The snow is starting to melt a little so I will be running outside. Yeah!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be outside and get fresh air. I will be able to walk the puggies too. Bonus.

Yesterday’s Workout…

I ran 7 miles total.

First 4 miles flat at 7.3 MPH

last 3 miles incline between 5-8 at 7.0-8.0 MPH

Rest 5 minutes…then…

5X5 Deadlift at 145#

5x3 Bench Press at 105#

50 sit ups

This was a lot. My sister's had a sleepover with my kids so I had extra time. Today will be an easier workout day.

Prepare your menu for week, make your list, go to the grocery store and start your cooking.

Have a great Sunday (:
