What I Ate on Thanksgiving Day!
It is the day after Thanksgiving and I am feeling pretty good. I have a touch of a sugar hangover, but it will go away after I workout. Holiday eating is all about portion control. If you are like me and consider your fitness and health a top priority all year long then you can "cheat" on Thanksgiving and you will be just fine. Should you eat the entire pie? Hell no but a small piece or a few bites...Absolutely! On a scale of 1-10, 1=starving, 10= stuffed, eat until you are at a 6-7. You never want to be stuffed. You want to feel satisfied. That means eat slow, enjoy every bite when you are at a 6 wrap it up and put it away. It is only food it will be there tomorrow.
This is my family on Mark's side. From left to right..Me, Mark, Chloe, Grandpa Ken, Conor and Matey. They are the best.
Breakfast at 7:00 am: 2 over easy organic eggs from my friend that has chickens. They are a little smaller but are so tasty. I ate it with Acorn Squash Candy from paleomg.com.
2 cups of Starbucks coffee with light cream and stevia in it.
EXERCISE:
I ran a total of ten miles. I ran 6 by myself then met Mark at the end of our driveway and we ran 4 more together. What a beautiful day...58 degrees and sunny.
LUNCH:
I ate this small salad of spinach, arugula, chicken salad from Roche Brothers and 1 clementine around 11:30 am before we left for Mark's cousins house. Lots of water and polar seltzer. I was starving!
I don't even know what this is (pic below) but I tried the one on the right and didn't like it at all so I threw both away. I ate 1/2 of the one on the right. I had 2 shrimp cocktail and a Stella beer when I first got to Jimmy's house (Mark's cousin).
I was starving and we were waiting for The Vineyarder's (Marks brother, wife and 4 kids that live on Martha's Vineyard) to come so dinner was delayed. I had a few broccoli florets, carrots and a couple crackers.
DINNER: Caesar salad, Brussel sprouts, 1 large slice of turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce, 1-2 tablespoons stuffing. YUM! 2 glasses of red wine over the course of 2.5 hours. LOVE red wine.
Dessert...I could not resist! A few bites of chocolate turtle pie, a few bites of Nutella pie and 1 bite of pecan pie and homemade whipped cream. More polar seltzer.
That is it! I am not a calorie counter except on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am so disciplined 80% of the time that I allow myself to indulge. You have to. Life is too short. If I had to estimate the calories consumed for this day it is approximately 1800-2,000 calories. Running 10 miles I burn 900-1,000 calories so I am not worried at all about gaining weight. Back on track today.
